Who We Are
Meals on Wheels of Ramsey County is a collaborative composed of eight member agencies that have been providing Meals on Wheels and other senior services in Ramsey County for almost 50 years!

The members include four private social service agencies serving residents within the City of St. Paul and four suburban school districts that serve residents in the suburban Ramsey County area.

The eight agencies that make up Meals on Wheels of Ramsey County are led by these values when it comes to our work together:

1. Dignity: Everyone deserves the right to age in a healthy, vital, and rewarding manner.
2. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Respecting and honoring the cultures and traditions that are meaningful to the people we serve and supporting the fair treatment and full participation of all people regardless of ability, age, ethnicity, gender, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, or other status.
3. Integrity: Being accountable to the people and communities we serve.
4. Neighborhood-based Care: Being deeply connected to the communities we serve and providing opportunities for people to stay in their homes and neighborhoods whenever possible.

5. Partnerships: Working with caregivers and others for the common good.
6. Services: Actively engaging those we serve in decisions about how they are served and can be of service.
7. Transparency: Being transparent in our decision making and practices. Volunteer
8. Engagement: Volunteers reflect our diverse community and enrich our work and the lives of those we serve.
Community Impact
By working together, our members ensure that all eligible Ramsey County residents have access to daily home-delivered meals. Unlike most urban areas, we are proud to have NO waiting list. Our effective, economical and streamlined county-wide collaboration of community Meals on Wheels providers is able to:
-
Help seniors and adults with disabilities maintain a better quality of life and remain in their own home
-
Reduce nursing home costs borne by taxpayers
-
Stretch limited government and private resources allocated for senior services
-
Avoid costly duplication of services
-
Promote “best practices” and delivery of high quality senior services
-
Address specific needs of each agency’s service area

Our Funding
Meals on Wheels recipients contribute toward the cost of meals and delivery. Ramsey County provides the Consortium with a financial base, which is distributed among the member agencies. The Consortium members also receive Federal/State Medical Assistance funds, administered through the Department of Human Services.
In addition, each of the member agencies generates volunteer and financial support from their local communities and individual contributions.

What We Do
Each year, our member agencies deliver more than 200,000 meals to older adults and those with disabilities in Ramsey County.
